Language Academy Pre-Holiday Art & Craft Bazaar
The Language Academy is a Pre-K through 8th grade campus which is one of the few schools in San Diego to have a language immersion (French & Spanish) program. The LA also strongly encourages a creative approach to education-encouraging students to grow through music and arts enrichment programs. Currently, they are seeking to raise over $10,000 to use toward their arts & music program for the 2011-2012 academic year. This money raised through your booth fee will benefit their music program. Help grow our creative community by supporting these budding artists and musicians!
Where and when is The Language Academy Pre-Holiday Art & Craft Bazaar being held?
The Language Academy Pre-Holiday Art & Craft Bazaar will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2011, from 12:00pm-4:00pm at The Language Academy, 4961 64th Street, San Diego, 92115.
Set up will start at 10:00am. Vendors will be responsible for providing their own 10’x10’ canopy, tables, chairs and displays and personal trash can. If you do not have a canopy, you can set up under a shaded over hang (5’x5’ space).
How many booths will be there?
It is a very large, open campus, therefore we can host up to 40-50 vendors.
Who can participate as a vendor?
We will carefully select our vendors to ensure the most diverse, creative, and quality selection of hand crafted goods and original art as possible. Applicants are chosen on a first come, first serve basis and will only be permitted if you create your own product. Absolutely NO tiered marketing or commercial products. You know, like Scentsy, Cookie Lee, Stella Dot, etc, etc.
Other requirements:
- For safety reasons, all vendors are expected to arrive no earlier than 10:00am and have their space set up no later than 12:00pm. Vendors will not be permitted to break down their booth/space until the close of the event at 4:00pm.
- All vendors spaces must be clear of any trash at the end of the event. We ask that you clear your own space and haul your own trash out of the event. This is a grassroots effort and therefore do not have staff to do this for you.
- You must make your own product. Absolutely no commercial or tiered marketing products (Scentsy, Stella Dot, Cookie Lee, etc).
- We will not only ask you to help promote this event-we will even provide you with marketing materials (PDF flyer, jpgs, etc.) This is a community event and we hope that you will want to promote your business as part of this event.
What is the cost to participate?
- $35 for 10’x10’ space
- $25 for 5’x5’ space
The money raised through booth fees (less fees associated with venue rental/marketing) will be donated directly to The Language Academy. We guarantee no less than 80% of booth fees collected will directly benefit The Language Academy arts/music education.
How do I join?
- Fill out the application at the bottom of this page.
- Once your application has been accepted, you will be prompted to pay your booth fee via email/paypal.
When will I be notified?
You will be notified within one week if you have been selected as a vendor.
If I am accepted, what does my booth fee cover?
- Your 10’x10’ ($35) or 5’x5’ ($25) space
- Venue rental – actually, at this location we are paying the janitor’s OT wages to open/close campus and assist with the event as necessary.
- Marketing – We will place ads and promote via flyers, school website, SDCA website, and community calendars. We don’t anticipate much money being used toward marketing as we will have loads of cross promotion between vendors, school, and community.
Can I join with a friend?
Sure! But please help us stay organized by sending your information in one application. To share a space the fee is still $35-10’x10’ or $25 -5’x5’.
Can I apply for two booth spaces?
Unfortunately, no. We hope to accommodate as many artisans as possible.
Is my application fee refundable?
Booth fees will be refunded only if:
- your merchandise does not meet the ‘handmade’ or ‘DIY’ requirements.
- we receive more applicants than we can accommodate.
- You are not selected due to your product being too similar to other vendors already signed up.
IMPORTANT: If you are selected to participate in this event but decide that you are suddenly unable to participate, your booth fee is not refundable. Also, once you cancel, you forfeit your spot in the fair and you are not permitted to sell or trade your space. We have a long waiting list and reserve the right to fill spots as we see fit.
Do I need to have any licenses or permits to participate?
We do not give business advice or ask that your provide your sellers permit number. However, you are responsible for registering your small business with the IRS and collecting sales tax for the items you’re selling. When tax time comes around, you’ll have to pay income tax on all the items you sold and pay the sales tax to the state where the fair is held. We recommend that you call The California Department of Revenue and the IRS for more info:
California Dept. of Revenue: 1-800-852-5711 or www.ftb.ca.gov
IRS: 1-800-829-4933 or www.irs.gov
By filling out and submitting the information below, you agree to the rules and policies set forth within the information above. If you have any questions, please email us at sdcrafters@gmail.com. Reserve your space for The Language Academy Pre-Holiday Arts & Craft Bazaar now:
